Get to know them. They're awesome.
Small group leaders (SGL’s) are the people that make youth group work. They are integrity-filled people who have decided to strategically invest in the lives of teenagers to pass on an authentic faith. They show up consistently every Friday to help our teenagers wrestle through their life and faith in a safe environment. They also show up randomly at sporting events, social media channels, graduations and sometimes your front door.
We encourage every parent to get to know who their teen’s small group leader is. Invite them over for dinner, take them out for coffee, shoot them an encouraging email, or just stop them in the hallway at church to say hello. You’ll realize very quickly that they are on your side and they can become your greatest ally in the battle for your teen’s spiritual, emotional and social development.
